Where is Cameron?

MYSTERY surrounds whether David Cameron is also in Andalucia, after reports that he is on holiday here in Ronda.

The British Prime Minister is reportedly taking time out from number 10 for a relaxing five-day break in his favourite mountain retreat this week.

Despite telling Spanish Premier José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero he would have to stop visiting since becoming Prime Minister in May, Cameron is apparently staying just outside Ronda, although his exact whereabouts remain a mystery.

Ronda has long been a popular holiday destination for Cameron, who in previous years has managed to enjoy his breaks here virtually unnoticed.

Two years ago we reported exclusively that the Prime Minister had stayed at the hotel Fuente de la Higuera and had been horse-riding and walking around the area.

Paul Darwent, owner of Bar Allioli in Jimera de Libar, met the PM in 2008 when he visited his bar while walking along the famous Mr Henderson’s Railway.

“I have heard he is staying with friends in Gaucin, but it’s all very discreet,” he said.

“I’ve got my camera ready this time in case he does come into the bar again though.”

But, since landing the top parliamentary job this year, Cameron is expected to get much more attention this time and was forced to change his usual hotel of choice for security reasons.

Owner of nearby La Almuña Hotel in Gaucín, Diana Paget, said everyone was staying very tight-lipped about whether he is here or not.

“I think he should be left alone to enjoy his holiday,” she said.

“Maybe he and Obama came together.”

While Cameron is managing to slip under the radar as much as possible, the visit by the Obamas this week is much more high profile and will generate an estimated 800million euros in revenue for the region.

Meanwhile, Cameron’s right-hand man Nick Clegg has chosen to holiday in Olmedo, Valladolid, the hometown of his wife Miriam.

El misterio se mantiene acerca de si David Cameron está también en Andalucía, tras comentarse que está de vacaciones aquí, en Ronda.

Se informa que el primer ministro británico, se va a tomar esta semana un descanso de cinco días alejado del 10 de Downing Street en su retiro de montaña preferido.

A pesar de haberle dicho al presidente, José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, que tendría que dejar de visitarla desde que asumió el cargo de primer ministro en mayo, al parecer, Cameron se encuentra en las proximidades de Ronda, aunque su paradero exacto sigue siendo un misterio.

Ronda ha sido un destino frecuente de vacaciones para Cameron, que en años anteriores ha conseguido disfrutar de sus descansos aquí pasando casi desapercibido.

Hace dos años, se informó en exclusiva que el Primer Ministro se había quedado en el hotel Fuente de la Higuera y había montado a caballo y caminado por la zona.

Pablo Darwent, propietario del Bar Allioli en Jimera de Libar, se reunió con el primer ministro en 2008, cuando visitó a su bar, mientras caminaba a lo largo del famoso Ferrocarril de Mr. Henderson.

"He oído decir que se está quedando con unos amigos en Gaucín, pero todo es muy discreto", dijo.

"Yo tengo mi cámara lista esta vez, en caso de que él entre en el bar de nuevo."

Pero, desde que llegó a su trabajo parlamentario este año, se espera que Cameron llame la atención mucho más en esta ocasión y se verá obligado a cambiar su hotel habitual por razones de seguridad.

La propietaria del cercano Hotel La Almunia en Gaucín, Diana Paget, dijo que todo el mundo se mostraba muy hermético sobre si está aquí o no.

"Creo que habría que dejarlo solo para que disfrute de sus vacaciones", dijo.

"Tal vez él y Obama llegaron juntos."

Mientras que Cameron está tratando permanecer de incógnito dentro de lo posible, la visita esta semana de los Obama es de mucho más alto perfil y se estima que generará unos 800 millones  de esuros en ingresos para la región.

Mientras tanto, la mano derecha de Cameron, Nick Clegg, ha optado por pasar sus vacaciones en Olmedo, Valladolid, la ciudad natal de su esposa Miriam.
