Guests up for a challenge and fancying some Spanish culture of the bovine kind - along with a fix of sun, sea and sangria - should make their way to the magical whitewashed village of Gaucin. This small Andalucian village, perched 626 metres above sea level, not only has glorious sweeping views to Gibraltar and the Rif mountains of North Africa, but celebrates Easter Sunday with a real bang. The annual bull-run, the Toro de Cuerda, has put this little hilltop gem on the map with tourists flocking in every year to join the locals as they race – and shriek – their way through the streets. The hot date April 12th 2009 The event There are two chances to run with the bulls on the big day as the village organisers release one bull in the morning and another in the afternoon. All cars and other vehicles are removed from the streets but unsurprisingly mayhem always ensues, which means all participators join the throng at their own risk. Encierros en Gaucín esta primavera Miércoles 11 de febrero 2009 11:02 Encierros en Gaucin Aquellos que han tratado de acabar con  los michelines del invierno, ¿por qué no apuestan usando zapatillas nuevas - y el ingenio - frente a los toros de la vieja Andalucía esta Semana Santa? Invitados por un reto y algunas extravagancias de la cultura española relacionadas con el toro - junto con una solución de sol, mar y sangría - deben emprender su camino hacia el mágico pueblo blanco de Gaucín. Este pequeño pueblo andaluz, ubicado a 626 metros sobre el nivel del mar, no sólo tiene maravillosas vistas de Gibraltar y las montañas del Rif del norte de África, sino que también celebra el Domingo de Pascua con una verdadera explosión. El encierro anual, el Toro de Cuerda, ha colocado a esta pequeña joya de la serranía en el mapa con turistas que acuden cada año pra unirse a los lugareños, mientras corren - y gritan - a su paso por las calles. Todos los coches y otros vehículos son retirados de las calles, pero no es sorprendente que se produzca el caos, lo que significa que todos los participantes que se unan a la multitud asumen su propio riesgo.
